The Payne Family Trust Timber Sale
1995 - 1996 - 1997

The following are only part of the correspondence between the contracted Forester myself and my brother in Tucson regarding a sale of timber on the Payne farm that took more than a year to complete. I have felt it necessary to post this information because of letters and other recent developments that have been passed on to my wife regarding my intentions towards the handling of the Payne Family Trust for over 20 years. This sale was successful because of the diligence that myself and the forester paid towards the completion of the project, well written Best Management Practices and conscientious Master Loggers, loggers that were often used by TVA because of that very fact. I too was the primary manager of the sale of the property in 2001 and have much of that information ready to post also, should I feel it necessary.  The loggers left the property in remarkable condition, reseeding all disturbed areas, and where necessary repairing roads that had been damaged.  The sale of the property in 2003 resulted in a distribution to the Payne Family Trust that should have proven that not only the Trust had been managed properly but that the FARM, as it was called, was also not in a HELL of mess.

Of course my family were content to see my mother cared for by myself and up until 1996, when she began feeling the need to have a cyst that had been present near her uterus since the birth of my sister, there was no emergency.  And it was probably that operation, which she never fully recovered from, that brought about her death in 1999 at the age of 87. Probably because of the reluctance of any of the family to visit that often, were they unaware of that emergency in her future.  I began telling them that she needed more care than I could offer and the possibility of her needing Nursing Home care was possible.  The Payne Family Trust in 1996 had more money at it's disposal than it did when it was formed 9 years before but if she wanted the best care from an extended care facility more money would be useful.

There were about three other companies I contacted regarding Forest Management before choosing Ms D.D. Nielsin as the Consulting Forester.  She was an approved Forester with the U.S. Forestry Dept.

This was one of many communications between my brother Eddie and myself both in preparation for the 1996 Payne Family Reunion and the progress of the timber sale.

This is a 32 page Stewardship Plan and would have qualified for cost shares had the Trust agreed to that.
