Two brothers, Thomas & Aaron came to the US from Scotland sometime abou tthe middle of the 18th cent. Aaron, came into Powell Valley & settled on creek which took his name, Davis Creek.
He settled very near the spot where the frontier fort known as Ft. Yoakum, or Yoakum's Station stood.(now Claiborne Co, TN - created 1801 from Grainger & Hawkins counties). No info.
available on Aaron's offspring who are still found atSpeedwell. It is assumed that Thomas remained in VA or NC. Nothing isknown about Aaron - not his birth, death or wife's name.
Two of his children were Thomas and Harmon. They both held land near head of Davis Creek near Ft. Yoakum. Part of the land that originally belonged to Thomas is still in the possession
of the Davis family (but, date of this quote unknown) of whom the oldest living representatives are P. P. Davis& C. M. Davis, grandsons of Thomas.
