This one belongs to William J. Walker, son
of Rev. John Davis and Margaret Ann Houston Walker. It is located at
the Head of Barren Cemetery in Claiborne Co. I believe he was probably
named after his mother's father, William Jasper Houston.

L-R is a picture of Bill Poore (not
positive) and William Thurman Poore. Do not know who the child is at
this time. Bill Poore is my wife's, brother to Raymond Foster Poore.
Thurman Poore is their father. He married Catherine Isabell Drummonds
second.
|
|
|
Raymond Foster Poore, my wife's
father. He was shot and killed by a WWI veteran that he often
helped.
The veteran apparently
went off of his rocker and started shooting at Raymond as he came up
the gentleman's driveway on one of his many visits.

Veteran's stone for Edward Walker, Jr (War
of 1812) and Mahala Tussey.
Also pictured left to
right: William Jacob Mode, William Joseph (Joe) Mode, and William
Joshua Mode. Edward Walker, Jr. is my boys 6th great grandfather. My
boys are tenth generation East Tennesseans.
The grave site for Edward
and Mahala is across the creek and up and behind his log cabin on a
very steep ridge. The ridge is so steep my sons could hardly open the
car doors on the passenger side of the vehicle. Joshua fell off of the
rock wall surrounding the graves and rolled under the car. That's how
steep the ridge is. Jacob Mode is named, in part, for Jacob Shuff
Walker, his 5th great grandfather.
Tim and Phillip Walker
were instrumental in procuring the veterans stone and Phillip Walker's
tireless research enabled us to find the grave site itself.
