My brother Phil Payne and myself on
November 9, 1991. We were celebrating each of our birthdays, his 68th and
my 40th. The occasion was also a gathering of my brother George Eddie's
friends for the Notre Dame and Tennessee football game which
Tennessee won in the last seconds.

We show off our cake. More on the game. Tennessee's 35-34
come-from-behind victory over Notre Dame in South Bend Nov., 9, 1991,
marks the Vols' second-largest comeback-win since 1961. The Vols
trailed the game -- now known as "The Miracle in South Bend" -- by a
score of 31-7 in the second quarter. Like this season, the Irish were
ranked higher than UT entering that contest (Notre Dame was fifth in
the AP poll, while the Vols were ranked 13th).
Alas no miracle in 2005.

Dr. Bill Cloud, was Chief of Staff at St.
Mary's Medical Center, Knoxville, Tn. My sister was born there, I had my tonsils
removed there and my mother was there five months for hip replacement
and later surgery to remove her leg. Bill also was a dentist here in Tazewell.
