Who was Phillip's father???? Is this the same Day line as the Austin Day in Pickens Co. SC which is nearby??? I have always thought that Austin was a son or grandson of Phillip; however, I may be wrong. Would like to hear from you. Thanks!!! Jo Ann Day Freeman

Joe:
I have not done enough research to know enough about your branch to be able to make any statements.
I only recently found out Phillip's son, John R was named John Ransome Day. I was on the Roots-L Day surname chat group for a while and there seemed to be several Ransome Days.
Not only that, there is a Phillip Day who was a Revolutionary Soldier from NC. He got land in TN for his services. Somewhere in his family is an Amery. I found an Amery Day dying in Caroline Co, VA about 1740 (?). Caroline Co is a badly burned County. I have not persued this Amery.
It seems likely there are several different Amery's and Phillips and possibly Ransomes. You might wish to proceed with caution. If your Ransome Day indeed came from Halifax Co, VA he might well be a part of the Phillip Day family of NC. I think that Phillip was in Person or Granville Co, NC which is on the VA border not far from Halifax Co.
The Days of Laurens District, SC came there, as best I know, from Culpepper Co, VA about 1790.
It is possible John Ransome Day, son of Phillip and Frances Mansfield never went to SC. Maybe he moved from Culpepper to Halifax Co. Prove it! Maybe that is what happened.!
Good luck. Keep me posted on your progress.
