Joe, I have some info on the
Chadwell's it may of be some help. Benjamin Chadwell b? d 1820?, had 4
children Dave SR. Nannie Heddie George Dave SR. and his wife for sometime
had lived at Indian Spring in Lee co, VA. He along with the Turners, Campbell's,
Cottrells, Middletons, and Bertrams was responsible for building the Block
House called Chadwells station in Lee co, VA. around 1784. They lived a
short time in Harlan KY, I dont know where but his wife died there, he
died in Tazewell, and is buried at Breast Work Hill .
My uncle passed this info to
me 15 years ago, he got it from an older man named James F. Bowman RR1
Box 97 Corbin KY
There is a book called the Annuals
of Southwest VA. 1769-1800 by Lewis P Summers that makes mention of Old
Dave's court trial where his horse was stolen.
Walter Middleton JR is my ggg-grand
father you listed his children could you provide the dates if possible
of there births and deaths. If you have any more info that you would be
willing to share I would greatly appreciate it.
Some questions: 1 Do you know
of any early Middleton pictures? 2 Do you think Chadwells station is still
around, if you can get on line with the Lee county historian, I did this
with Scott Co and it work wonders. 3 Have you ever been to Middleton's

for anyone wanting to contact me. I am presently serving in the Army at
Fort Hood TX, if plans go right I will retire next June. For 20 years I
have been researching the Skidmore and Middleton families and as a child
I spent many a summer living in Harlan county, and now with all this info
on towns, and locations I plan on traveling some so that I can connect
the names to it all. My wife and I use to travel through Tazewell and Bean
Station on our way to Fort Bragg many times, it is so ironic that my ancestry
helped establish that same trail that we travel now. If I should every
be in that area would it be OK to contact you. I would be very interested
in the trails you mentioned for I have read of the Hensley 's and often
admired how they survived.

In Old Time Tazewell Mary Hansard says that Jane Cloud
that married James Carr of Springdale was the daughter of Jacob Cloud.
She had brothers Green Berry and a sister Orlena that marred Pleasant Hodge.
This is a conflict. It would be possible that Benjamin (Jr.) was her brother
and her father was as Mary Hansard said was Jacob. It also maybe that it
was Benjamine Jacob. She and her husband did name a son Green B. Carr.
More research will need to be done.

My grandfather was James Clayton Chadwell, he married Rhoda Edens, daughter
of Elijah Edens and Sarah Ely Edens of Lee County, Va.
Their children were Charlie (died as child), Lillie (died as child), Verna
Lee (m. Green), Hassie (m. Gilbert), Roscoe, Millard, and Mary (m. Seals).
James married Angeline Cosby Brooks after Rhoda's death. No children were
of this marriage.
James and Rhoda are buried in the Chadwell-Brooks Cemetery in the Hopewell
community of Claiborne County. Charlie and Lillie Chadwell are also buried
there. Wm. Thomas Chadwell was also buried there but his grave is unmarked.
My father Millard Chadwell married Dovie Whitaker and of this marriage there
were three daughters, Bobbie Chadwell Long, Mildred Lorene Chadwell Noe,
Margie Chadwell Fultz. After Dovie's death, he then married June Bryant of
Shawanee, two daughters were born of this marriage, Mary Lou Chadwell Keck
and Diane Chadwell Widner (myself).
Bobbie Chadwell Long had one daughter, Phyllis that died as an infant, and
one son, Harold Long. Harold had two sons, Douglas Long and Brandon Jason
Long (now deceased).
Mildred (Lorene) Noe had four children, Larry, James (Jim), Wanda (Seals)
and Sherry (McGeorge). Larry has one daughter Christie, Jim has one
daughter Michelle and one son Matthew. Wanda has no children. Sherry has
one daughter Krystal and one son, Daniel.
Margie had one daughter Debbie (Hurst) and one son Mickey. Debbie has one
son Jason. Mickey has one son Blake.
Mary Lou has one son Ricky and one daughter Stephanie. Ricky has one
daughter Holly and one son Ryan.
Diane (myself) have one daughter Summer.
Myself as well as my four sisters all live in Tazewell. Our parents are now
deceased.

I was visiting the Claiborne County website, more specifically the Chadwell
lineage. Under the Sixth Generation, Wm. Thomas Chadwell and Margaret
Grimes Chadwell, their children were James Clayton, Isaac Stewart, Thomas
William, Alvis, Albert Lilburn, Ewing Morgan, Robert S., and Matilda
