Ezekiel Burdine was transfered by Francis Ashbury from Pee Dee Circuit, South Carolina to Green Circuit, East Tennessee - September 26, 1800

According to Ashbury's Journal and a listing of all Methodist Episcopal Ministers Recieved into the Church between 1762-1840 (PDF File) - Ezekiel Burdine was Received 1800 and Located 1804.

The following comes from the Blacksburg, Va United Methodist Church's website - Ezekiel Burdine was one of the young ministers of 1801-02. He was of French Huguenot descent, born in Culpeper County, Virginia, and partly reared in South Carolina, where he became a minister shortly before Bishop Asbury visited his parents in 1830 and mentioned them in his Journal, Vol. II, p. 266 as "ancient Methodists with a son in the ministry. His first appointments were in South Carolina and Tennessee. Most of his married life was in Russell County, Virginia, where he was a local minister, farmer, justice, and overseer of the poor. In 1836 he was one of 43 Russell County citizens who gave funds to help start Emory and Henry College, ten miles east of Abingdon. He last lived and died in the Moccasin Valley, 15 miles southwest of Lebanon, where he is buried in a Tate and Burdine family cemetery. An inscription on his tombstone says he was a Methodist minister 62 years.

Henry married (1-MRIN:3966) Elizabeth SEWELL-11827, daughter of Benjamin SEWELL-11831 and Mary JOHNSON-11830 (MRIN:3969). Elizabeth was born 1805 in Russell Co., VA. She died 1884 in Russell Co., VA.

They had the following children:

Third Generation

John married (1-MRIN:164) Catherine DEVAULT-422. Catherine was born 1831.
She died 1861.
I have conflicting information regarding where John Travis BURDINE and Catherine DEVAULT spent most of their lives.
Although not a direct descendent there seems to be records showing John T. BURDINE in Claiborne County, TN.  He is mentioned in his grandfather Benjamin Sewell's Will as is Samuel Patton Burdine.

and that she died in Knoxville, Knox Co TN, but I have no date of death.
Elizabeth Catherine DEVAULT was d/o Elizabeth 'Betsy' CLOUD and John
DEVAULT.  Elizabeth CLOUD was d/o Joseph CLOUD & Jane CARPENTER.  John
DEVAULT was s/o Abraham DEVAULT & Catherine GROSS.  I do not know the
parents of John Travis BURDINE.
My husband descends from a sister of Elizabeth CLOUD.  She was Malinda CLOUD
who married James MITCHELL.
Perhaps you might find something in Knox Co TN for Elizabeth Catherine & John Travis.
