My 2great grandfather [scans 0014, 0015] according
to my grandmother and great uncle Clyde Clayton
Cawood was born in Missouri. I
personally visited Neosho and
obtained courthouse records of a sale of land to his widow back in Tennessee. It is
a mystery what happened to Thomas. And also was a mystery to me when I
asked about where this land was located that the person there would not
talk with me any more. I just wanted to locate my ancestor Thomas Ferguson.
Stories have been handed down to us by mouth which only arouses suspicion.
We just wanted to honor our ancestors.

Edwards Davis for my help in her book. The Cawood and Ferguson
information included In More Speedwell Families were supplied by me. Also
John Robertson’s Claiborne County Folks
book, the Cawood- Ferguson information came from me. My picture is on page

Also I am fortunate to have corresponded with Lawrence Edwards
and have an autographed copy of Minutes of Davis Creek Church, and
another Bits of Memory.
Concerning Cawood, I purchased a copy from Newberry Library Arthur Keith’s
Manuscript of Cawood family. Therein, is a rich resource of Cawood’s back to Maryland and @
1600s or so.
