This information is from Virginia Billingsley Fletchers application to the
First Family of Tennessee.

Jesse Billingsley came to Sullivan Co, with his parents around 1780. He
was the son of John Billingsley, a Rev. War soldier, and Jean Milsap. Prior
o 1798 Jesse married Elizabeth Parker the daughter of William Parker whose
estate settlement in sullivan Co, Nov 21, 1818 showed the following children:
Elizabeth, Patience, William T., Benjamin, and Rachel (m. John Ford).
William Parker was an early pioneer of Sullivan Co.

Jesse's first land deed in Sullivan Co. was Feb 15, 1800 when his father for
"love and affection" deeded him 160 acres on Sinking Creek. Jesse continued
to acquire adjoining land and by 1820 owned 692.5 acres in Sullivan Co. and
additional tracts in Washington Co., TN, his land overlapping the county
lines.

His log house was built on the tract on Sinking Creek and faced on what is now
Proffitt Lane. May 14, 1821, Jesse mortgaged the tract of land where he lived
and two additional adjoining tracts to James Hall. The terms of the
agreement were that Jesse had two years to pay the note.

Two months after signing the mortgage, Jesse Billingsley, at age 47, died
in a wagon accident July 28, 1821. One account says he was killed whn his 4
horse team ran away and trie to cross a swollen stream, another says a wagon
load of iron overturned on him. Perhaps both describe the accident.

(John 6, James 5, William 4, William 3, John 2, Francis 1.) Born Guilford
County, North Carolina, USA 22 February 1774 moved to Rutherford County, North
Carolina, USA with his parents prior to 1776 and to Ten-nessee with them in
1794. He married prior to 1798 Elizabeth Park, born North Carolina, USA 9
November 1773. They moved to middle Tennessee, USA and resided in Roane County
a few years then moved to Jackson County. He died 28 July 1821 and is stated to
have been killed when his four-horse team ran away and endeavored to cross a
swollen stream. Elizabeth survived him many years and resided with her sons in
Kentucky, USA where she died 3 July 1854.

Elizabeth PARKER, daughter of William PARKER and Patience SHIPLEY, who was born Nov 9, 1773. Jesse died on Jul 28, 1821 at Sullivan Co., Tn. Elizabeth died on Jul 3, 1854 at Washington Co., Tn. Washington County, Tennessee, USA in December 1807, moved to a-middle Tennessee
with his parents and married prior to 1833 Mary Buckner, born north Carolina in
1807. They moved to Cumberland County, Kentucky, USA and then moved to Monroe
County, Kentucky, USA in the late 1840's where Mary died 5 December 1850. He
was a farmer and sur-vived her many years resided Monroe County then moved to
Barren County and resided with his various children and died 20 February 1896.

i Benjamin Franklin: b 1833 Ky. Last heard from was living in Calif. in 1886,
and unmarried.
ii Jesse J. I-I.: b 22 July 1835 Cumberland Co., Ky., moved to Monroe Co., Ky.
with his parents in 1840's; went to California, USA in the Gold Rush and
returned to Monroe Co., Ky. in 1850 where he resided to 1870 then moved to
Barren Co.

(John 6, James 5, William /#, William 3, John 2, Francis 1.) Born Rutherford
County, North Carolina, USA August 1778, moved to Onslow County, North
Carolina, USA and to Tennessee with his parents. He -married prior to 1799
Rebecca Hale, born Virginia in 1779, said to be a sister to Ruth Hale and
Alexander Hale. Resided in Washington County then moved to Roane County where
they resided for some years then moved to Monroe County, Kentucky, USA where
Rebecca died about 1859. He was livin,7 in 1864 but died before 1870. He was a
farmer and is said to have been a Mason. The house and farm he founded in Roane
County passed to his son, John H., and has come down thru his sons and remains
in the family today.

Roane Co., Tenn. to 1836 then moved to Monroe Co., Ky. where he engaged in
