I enjoyed this lineage because of two important things. First the connection of the family to the Josias Payne family who were closely related to the Woodson family (not my Payne line) and the fact that Job C. Bailey appears to have been descended from three lineages of the Thomas T. Bailey line. This seems unusual but to find that over a period of 200 year you could marry a distant cousin is not that unusual.

Elizabeth Bailey married John Woodson – John Woodson was descended from Robert Woodson and Elizabeth Ferris.
Also descended from Robert and Elizabeth Woodson is Mary Woodson who marries George Payne. This lineage is very important to Payne researchers as it connects directly this lineage that is considered the Dolley Payne Madison line.

In regards to your statement (below) about Dolley Madison; yes it turned out I am an identical 12-point DNA match with William "Barry" Payne 945R as posted on DNA chart Lineage 20 from 2007:

Barry has a proven lineage. He is in that distinguished George Payne / Mary Woodson line which included Dolley Payne Madison (and Josias Payne). As far as I know I do not descend from that George Payne / Mary Woodson line. Per the DNA result Barry and I do appear to have a common male ancestor from earlier times.

We took pictures last spring when we were in town for George Bailey's burial at Bailey Cemetery, George would have been our 2nd cousin, his dad was Morgan "Doc" Bailey. Also, there was mention as a child that we had Indian blood in the family, that was the reason there were different family members who were real dark toned with black hair like my father as his uncle Stanley Bailey that he grew up with, wondering if you had ever heard of that in the Bailey family tree.

I copied your address and will most probably send out the negatives today.

Priority mail. I would appreciate a few copies of the Doctor. My mom says he was a well respected Doctor in this town. I remember the name.

My uncle, Julius D. Tolliver, ( also an uncle of ours, my great uncle, a Jim Tolliver lived in Tazewell years ago also. before that, I remember our Uncle Jim

living down in Powell's Valley ) worked as ( purported to be ) head of air conditioning and heating at Y-12 . He has since died over 20 years ago. He was a

former coal miner from Harlan, Ky. ( he was born in Union County, TN. as I was told ) He started work there during the Manhattan Project, as did my parents.

They ( my parents )lived in LaFollette during that time, to be close to Oak Ridge.

Randy, again I had known him since the mid 60's. We went over to the "Irish Cemetery" on a back roads grand tour, just less than a year before he died. I

got to go to the Tazewell VFW too.

That man ( believed to be in his late 50's or early 60's ) Bailey took me to see, lived in an old house, I remember it being on a corner at the possible end

of a street close to, and as I remember and within sight of 25 ( down from the court house, a bit ).

I could be wrong. It was a house said to be used by a Cival War officer during the war for awhile.

I wrote Randy's boys when he died and never got any acknowledgement back, whatsoever.

I gave him a Rebel flag.( newer, nice and big, but not worth much ) and he basically told me thanks, but maybe I should keep anything else. That might have

been his way of telling me he was dying.

I have plenty of Randy Bailey storys, but not all for polite society, Ha!

Kenny's dad, grandmother and aunt, rented an apartment ( upstairs ) from my dad and mom back around 1962.

I think I know several of the Kecks you mention, but I moved from Tazewell and was gone for over 20 years. I went to school with Kathy Keck who I think was a granddaughter of Shelby Keck. Russell Keck was a postal worker with my father and there was Stanley and Steve. I think Forest Keck or some close family owned the land where I live.

Gary Keck, son of Estil Keck whose father was Robert F. Keck emails me occasionally from Monroe, Mich. He knew Randy Bailey, who was instrumental in restoring the Confederate memorial in the Irish Memorial Gardens. Thank you so much for taking time to respond.  Yes, you are on the right track for the Bailey's. fyi - Jane Bailey is uncle Doc's youngest daughter, Dennis Bailey is also one of his sons that now lives back in Tazewell. Francis Trent, was Do's oldest daughter, she worked at the bank in town. Uncle Stanley married Cloda and his daughter Diane, her son is the pharmacist in New Tazewell.
Doc had 12 brothers and sisters, Lillie Jane was the oldest, that is my grandmother who married Tom Rose, there was Floya who married Ben Wilmoth, Clova who married Buck Wilmoth, Addie who married Oscar McNew, Preacher Woody Bailey, Alice, Boyd who married Charlotte, Pryor who married Gladys, Clifton who married Mildred, that is Randy's dad, Stanley who married Cloda, Katherine who married Herman Leffew and the youngest Sammie died at 18 months. My father was born in 1925 and so he grew up playing with his uncles Clifton and Stanley and his aunt Katherine who they called "Kat".   All that is left is Katherine, who lives in Ohio, she is 82 and will be 83 in the fall.
As you can see there is a big family on the Bailey side with all kinds of branches for relation. We spent many a summer visiting all the relation, my son who was born in March of 1983 went to his first Bailey reunion that summer.
Yes, I remember as a very young child, going to Gladys and Pryor's skating rink as well as to their home, they were very nice to us. On the Rose side, my dad only had one brother, Bill died of heart attack when I was a baby, in 1960. My grandfather Thomas Wesley Rose only had one sister her name was Beulah. That family I have the least amount of information on, I do have some photos but not a lot of documented history. Loan Mountain sounds like the right area.
Yes, I too wish I had known Randy longer as adults, since he was 8 years older than I he was just one of many older cousins, as adults, we communicated via email and I shared all my pictures of him as a child and his father as a child as back then not a lot of pictures were ever taken however, what ever did. my grandma did keep them. Most Randy had never seen and was so glad to get. Don't know if you knew but Randy was sick most of his life, he had most of his intestines removed at a young age, I am sure that is why he was not a very tall man, where his father and brother were. He loved history and it is a shame he did not live longer as he was all about preserving history of the town he loved so.
