Attached is my Payne descendant database, compiled to the best of my ability (at this time). Hopefully there are few to no errors within, but gratefully accept corrections from those better informed. I included notes on Zadok Payne written by a man who knew the family well. On an historical note, Zadok's wife was sister to John Vansandt, an abolitionist whose exploits are well documented and who was a prototype for a character in "Uncle Tom's Cabin". For edification abt him, I include an attachment. Saves me from typing since I'm far from proficient.

DESCRIPTION OF ZADOK PAYNE'S FARM by Rev. Henry Clay Northcott (1822-1918):

Zadok Payne's farm was east of Hillsboro and ran into the foothills of the Cumberland mountains. Lyons and Northcutt families were near and in these three homes 39 children were reared . The Paynes had 16, the Lyons had 8 and the Northcutts had 15.

Author of Payne material below is H.C. Northcott on "Early History of Hillsboro". Serialized in the Times Democrat 1918/1919

I have heretofore mentioned the Zadock Payne family with their sixteen children, but I feel that some

special mention should be made of these two old people. Mr Payne was industrious, sober and economical,

while his wife, who was a sister of John Vansandt, my brother-in-law, was a genuine woman, much like the

one mentioned in Solomon's picture of the model wife and mother. How they fed, clothed and schooled such a family was a wonder of industry and thrift, for they always seemed to have plenty to eat and were comfortably clad.

When services were held at Alum Springs, Mr. Payne was a very old man, handicapped, I suppose, by

rheumatism and other infirmities. It was a mile from his home, but using two canes he walked barefoot all the way there, took a seat in the pulpit and seemed to enjoy all the services. Thank the Lord, I now think of him and his noble wife where:

Where the eye is fire and

the heart is flame,

In their home in the
