oldest permanent settlement in the Mississippi Valley."Allegedly from MO, he was a cousin to Daniel Boone. The title Captain is from
the company of men he raised to protect settlers in the Jackson County area
from supposedly marauding English soldiers and their Indian allies during the
war of 1812-14.
